Neighborhood Input

NFC begins the 2016 Strategic Plan update!

The Neighborhoods First Coalition kicked off the 2016 Strategic Plan update on June 24th at a dinner held at Jasmine Seafood Restaurant.  The dinner was hosted by the NFC and attended by Councilmember Chris Cate, his staff, and District 6 community leaders representing each neighborhood in the district, including Clairemont, Kearny Mesa, Mira Mesa, Sorrento Valley and the Park Village neighborhood of Rancho Penasquitos.

The Strategic Plan is an annual working document that outlines District-wide goals, neighborhood goals and objectives that will guide the actions of each neighborhood and the city.  Each goal has corresponding
objectives that can be implemented to help fulfill the priorities that have been outlined by District 6 residents.

NFC Chairman Mitz Lee, thanked the Jasmine Seafood Restaurant and Miramar Federal Credit Union for their sponsorship of the dinner and introduced Chris Cate.  Councilmember Cate briefed his progress and plans on the 2015 Strategic Plan and asked for broad neighborhood and community participation in the development of the 2016 Strategic Plan. NFC Vice Chairman, Arnie Edner outlined the schedule of events that will produce
the 2016 update by December 1st, 2015.

The schedule will allow the various organizations time to gather input locally and then to work within the NFC to establish a consolidated, prioritized list on behalf of the entire district.  In completing this task by December, the NFC gives the Councilmember time to effectively prepare for the San Diego City 2016 budget cycle with the priorities of District 6 constituents as his primary  focus.

The NFC welcomes input from all District 6 residents and encourages everyone to work closely with their neighborhood organizations to identify concerns and opportunities to improve our quality of life within District 6.
